Troubleshooting
Step-by-step checks for the most common situations. For quick answers, see the FAQ.
Content isn't appearing on my site
Work through it in order:
- Is it content you wrote directly, or linked content?
- Written directly: did you publish? Drafts don't go live until you do. → Publishing
- Linked: continue below.
- Is the item in the right folder? It must be in this site's folder, or a subfolder of it. → Folders
- Is the section configured correctly? Check that its source is that folder, its type matches the item, and no filter is excluding it. → Displaying content from the library
- Is it in this site's folder? A folder belongs to one site. Content added to another site's folder will not appear here.
My changes aren't going live
- Content you wrote directly, page changes, section options, theme: these are part of your draft — publish to make them live. → Publishing
- Linked content: updates automatically while the site's live records feature is on — check that first, in Settings → Features (then publish). If it is, confirm it really is linked content (from a folder) and not content typed into the section.
I can't edit something
- Check your role on the site — different roles can open different views and make different changes. → Roles and permissions
- Check whether it's a design-system limit — the option may simply not exist in your Foundation. → Foundations and templates
- Check whether it's linked content — linked content is edited at its source (the library item), not in the section on the page. → Content you write vs. content you link
I accidentally deleted something (or made a change I regret)
If the editor is still open, undo it: Cmd/Ctrl + Z while you're still typing in the text, or Undo in the editor's header for a change to a section (adding or deleting one), which names the change it will step back. Text you've finished editing isn't on the header's history. ⚠️ The undo history is cleared when you reload or leave the editor, and there is no version history to restore from. Your work is saved as you go, so after that a change you regret is simply the current state — put it back the way it was.
What does protect you is the gap between your draft and the live site: visitors see the last version you published. A mistake you have not published has not reached anyone, and publishing is a deliberate step. If you have already published it, correct the content and publish again.
Content appeared that I didn't add
Someone else with access to this site has added it to the site's Records — collaboration working as intended. To control what shows, adjust who can contribute, or the section's conditions. → Roles and permissions
A section shows an odd name instead of its usual one
A section is displayed by a section type that comes from the site's design system. If a build of that design system no longer provides the type a section was built with, the editor has nothing to show for it and falls back to the type's internal name — so the section appears with a name you do not recognise, rather than a friendly one.
Nothing warns you about this, and no list of affected sections exists. If you meet one:
- replace the section with a type the design system does offer, or
- remove it.
⚠️ You cannot fix it by changing design system — a site keeps the one it was created with. See Foundations and templates.
Someone can see the site but can't change its Records
A site's Records come with the person's role on the site; there is no separate folder permission to grant. A Contributor or an Editor can add and change them. Raise their role in the site's Settings → Collaboration. → Roles and permissions
Still stuck
If something here doesn't resolve it, the app's Help area has the guides and a list of common questions — open Help in the top bar, then Get help. It also collects quick fixes for the handful of problems that come up most.
If you work in an organization, its administrators are the people to ask — they manage members, billing and usage, and some screens are only available to them.
