What is Uniweb?
Uniweb is a place to create and manage real websites — with pages, navigation, your own domain, and professional design — and to run them yourself, without waiting on anyone to make a change for you.
You write your content and decide how it's arranged. The design comes from a ready-made design system, so your site looks polished from the first page and stays consistent as it grows. Hosting, image optimization and multilingual support are taken care of for you — nothing to set up, nothing to maintain — and analytics is a feature you can turn on for a site.
What you actually do in Uniweb
Working in Uniweb comes down to a few simple activities:
- Write content — text, images, videos, documents — directly on your pages.
- Choose sections — pick from ready-made section types (a hero banner, a list of features, a team directory, a contact form) and arrange them into pages.
- Brand your site — set your colors and fonts so the site is unmistakably yours.
- Publish — push your work live, on your own domain, in one step.
That's the whole job: your words, your images, your brand, your pages. The design takes care of itself — you're never left fussing over layout or wondering how to make things line up.
Everything happens in a visual editor. You click into a section and type the way you would in any word processor; when a section has choices to make — a layout variant, a color, a toggle — they appear as ordinary controls. You only ever see the options that section actually has, so there's nothing to memorize and nothing to break. The editor offers exactly the sections that suit your kind of site, so it feels made for what you're building rather than like a generic tool.
The one idea that explains everything: content and design are separate
Most website tools mix the what you say together with the how it looks. Move one thing and something else breaks. Uniweb keeps the two apart on purpose:
- You own the content — the words, the images, which sections appear, and the order they appear in.
- A design system owns the look — how each section is laid out, what options it offers, and how it all holds together visually.
That design system is called a Foundation. You don't build it — you choose one (most people start from a template, which comes with a Foundation already selected). Think of a Foundation as a coordinated set of furniture for your site: you arrange the pieces and fill them with your things, but you can't accidentally knock the design out of alignment, because the pieces were made to work together.
This separation is why you can move quickly and confidently. You can rearrange a page, rewrite a section, or rebrand the whole site, and the design stays intact. For the full picture, see How Uniweb works.
Two ways to use Uniweb
Start on your own. Pick a template, customize it with your content and branding, and publish — all by yourself, today. Ideal for individuals, small teams, and anyone who wants to move fast with a great-looking site.
Work with an agency or developer. For a fully custom design, a developer can build a Foundation tailored to your brand and hand you a site to run. You manage the content; they maintain the design system. You still work entirely in the app — the custom design just becomes the set of sections you compose with.
Either way, the app you use is the same, and everything in this documentation applies.
What Uniweb is not
- It's not a drag-anywhere page builder. You arrange purposeful sections rather than placing free-floating boxes. That's what keeps sites consistent. See How Uniweb compares.
- You don't design it from scratch. The look comes ready-made from a design system, so you're never staring at a blank canvas trying to make things look right. (Those design systems are built by developers with separate tools — optional, and entirely separate from running your site. See docs.uniweb.io if you're curious.)
- It's not a plugin marketplace. Multilingual support, analytics, search, and hosting come built in, so sites don't accumulate fragile add-ons over time.
